He recognizes the importance of virtual space both in terms of physical infrastructure development and social uses of the virtual society amidst traditional urban form and the communities present therein. The subsequent section dealing with community networking provides a variety of examples surrounding the projects in democratic participatory community networking with examples from the United States, Italy, Argentina, Belgium, Ghana, Australia, Hungary and Scandinavian countries. Five papers assess various CI applications within local settings. This includes a study of the cybercafe, indigenous community IC development in Australia, a local governance project in Sweden and study of two project in Venice, Italy aimed toward community knowledge development through community network access.
