Bayesianism is a theory for the representation of uncertain knowledge and provides a framework for the concept of learning from new evidence by conditionalization. The book Bayes or Bust by John Earman is not concerned with the application of Bayes-theory in the field of expert systems, but is devoted to modeling confirmation of scientific theories. Nevertheless, I can recommend it to all researchers interested in Bayesianism, since many of the problems discussed in this book do not only apply to the philosophical aspects of confirmation of scientific theories, but also to the treatment of uncertainty by Bayes-theory in knowledge based systems.
