Book reivew: Mental Models and Human-computer Interaction Ed. by D. Ackermann, M . J. Tauber (North-Holland, 1990)

Book reivew: Mental Models and Human-computer Interaction Ed. by D. Ackermann, M . J. Tauber... This book offers some current research on the mental models that users acquire and use when interacting with computers. It is based on the "Sixth Interdisciplinary Workshop in Informatics and Psychology" held in Schaerding, Austria in 1987. Although the book offers little in the form of a unified view of mental model research, it does survey various approaches to investigating mental models and how they can be used in HCI research. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png ACM SIGCHI Bulletin Association for Computing Machinery

Abstract

This book offers some current research on the mental models that users acquire and use when interacting with computers. It is based on the "Sixth Interdisciplinary Workshop in Informatics and Psychology" held in Schaerding, Austria in 1987. Although the book offers little in the form of a unified view of mental model research, it does survey various approaches to investigating mental models and how they can be used in HCI research.
