DI? pm n OI IPir li,r ILIOI TIIIIAIIIE imr i l l l l H i l l [ User Retargetable Microcode Tools Introduction Bit Slice software has, since 1982, been in the business of developing tools for microcoding as well as doing general consulting in the area of micro-architecture design. In particular, we have pioneered the implementation of standard high level languages on microprogrammed hardware. We are now offering completely user retargetable microcode development system, which includes compilers for C and Fortran, a unique assembler/compactor generator tool, an assembler, an object librarian, and a linker. The user retargetable microcode development system makes it possible to have a high level language compiler and a full set of software development tools running for any microprogrammable architecture in a matter of weeks. The compilers support the full ANSI standards for the languages plus a number of extensions which are particularly useful for microprogrammed architectures. Overview The complete set of components included in the system are depicted in Figure 1 and include the following: MCPP MCC RFC MCPEEP MCPACK MCASR MCLINK MCLIB - macro preprocessor - Bit Slice C compiler (Draft Proposed ANSI-1988) - Bit Slice Fortran compiler (ANSI-1977) - peephole
