Essay Annotated Bibfiography on Internationalization a n d Localization Emmanuel Uren 83 Seward Street San Francisco CA 94114 USA euren @mindspring.com The purpose of this article is to review some of the literature about internationalization and localization, particularly that which I have found to be useful in my own work. Over the last few years I have worked extensively in internationalization and localization in the production of shrink-wrapped packages, mostly in Quality Assurance and occasionally in project management. I keep up-to-date by subscribing to a few newsgroups, and by attending professional meetings, And I also read extensively. My colleagues and I compiled a bibliography for our own introductory book on software internationalization and localization. Since publication, I have maintained it in case I wrote another book and also for personal interest; it has grown to over 100 entries. (An unannotated version appears in the recently published Multilingual Communications & Computing, Number 11, Volume 8, Issue 1.) So when I was asked to write this article, my first task was to cull that bibliography for books and articles that I have personally found useful in my own consulting and contracting work.
