An earlier version of this test, Experimental Form A, was administered to 295 programming students in 7 participating schools. The test books were then returned to the author for grading. The results showed Pearson coefficients of correlation between the test rankings and the grades in the programming courses ranging from .14 to .69 for the 192 men students and from .54 to .95 for the 103 women students. For all men combined as a single group the correlation was .45 and for all women combined as a single group it was .70. Programming aptitude tests usually show correlations in the .30's or .40's and occasionally in the .50's or higher.
