ASIS is an open and published callable imerface which gives C A S E tool and application developers access via p r e d e f m e d formats to the semantic and syntactic information contained in an A d a program library. The full syntax and semantics o f the information contained in the library is available through this interface. ASIS has been designed to be independent o f underlying compiler library implementations; thus supporting portability o f C A S E tools while relieving users from having to understand the complexities o f an A d a compiler library's internal representation o f data. Clients of ASIS are shielded and free from the implementation details o f each Ada vendor's proprietary library and intermediate representation.
