ABSTRACTS FROM RECENT PAPERS t~TIIILDA The following is the abstract of a report e n t i t l e d "A Description of the MATIIILDA System" by Bruce D. Shriver which may be of i n t e r e s t to readers. A limited number of t h i s report is available on request from: Peter Kornerup Department of Computer Science University of Aarhus 8000 Aarhus C Denmark Abstract: A dynamically microprogrammable processor called r~THILDA is described. [IATHILDA has been designed to be used as a tool in emulator and processor design research. I t has a very general microinstruction sequencing scheme, sophisticated masking and s h i f t i n g c a p a b i l i t y , high speed local storage, a 64-bit wide bus structure, a h o r i z o n t a l l y encoded microinstruction, and other features which make i t reasonably well suited for t h i s purpose. Also, hardware modification is r e l a t i v e l y e a s i l y undertaken to enhance the experimental nature of the machine. THE
