The beginning Forth student is usually introduced to vocabularies as single linked lists of words, with the most recently defined word at the head of the list. Although the student may later become more or less aware of the multiple thread property of various Forth models, few texts explain the nature of the implementation, or the significance and importance of multiple threads in speeding up the interpretation process.
