There were 35 technical papers presented over the three day period. Since these papers were presented in one central session rather than several parallel sessions, it gave everyone ample opportunity to familiarize oneself with the different research efforts of the high level synthesis community. I presented the paper titled "A design data base for behavioral synthesis" (coauthored by Professor Daniel D. Gajski). In this presentation, I gave an overview of our approach for providing data base support for design processes at the behavioral synthesis level. In particular, I discussed the design object model underlying the behavioral design data base (BDDB) and the design data exchange scheme utilized for tool integration. Lastly, I described the usage of BDDB in the VHDL Synthesis System, which is a high-level synthesis environment developed in the UCI CADLAB here at the University of California, Irvine. Thanx goes to the workshop participants for their valuable feedback on my work. This has provided me with better insight in the requirements and concerns of the high-level synthesis community for data base related technology, such as, design information modeling and design process flow management. Overall my attendance at the workshop has been a rewarding experience. I would like to thank the workshop organizers for a job well done and the SIGDA Travel Grant Committee for providing me with a travel grant which made my attendance at the Fifth High-Level Synthesis Workshop in the beautiful Black Forest possible.
