Ujazdowskie 4 Warsaw, Poland Summar X A computer program for simulating a many year experiment in population genetics was devised. The simulated experiment has two goals: first, the determination of specific effects of two linked genes within the population, and second, the determination of the genetic distance between the two genes. The program requires from the student a planning of subsequent steps of the experiment and statistical analysis of the results. Introduction Population genetics is difficult to illustrate by examplles as experiments usually last for a long time. However, these proceslses are easily simulated on a computer. We describe a computer program devised to simulate a long-term experiment with a plant population. Iit allows the student to study the specific effects and the distributio= of two genes in a plant population. The population is characterized by a random sample of plants of different phenotypes. Phenotypes are differentiated by one character, the height of the plant. The two genes affect the height in an
