This study contains an analysis of the music of ninety-two English-language folksongs collected in Ontario, Canada. The major problems are: 1) selecting a suitable set of techniques for folksong analysis; 2) finding a feasible method of applying them to the data; 3) performing the analysis; 4) evaluating the method, the analysis techniques and the results (including some statistical analysis); and 5) making recommendations for future analysis of folksongs and other forms of music.
