The literature has suggested several factors which should be related to if an individual prefers to interact with a computer or another person for any specific task. These factors include, among others, the amount of computer experience an individual has, various personality traits, attitudes toward computers or technology, the capabilities of the computer system, and perceived aspects of the task. To date, however, there have been no attempts to develop and test causal models to explain these various relationships. This study hypothesized the casual relations illustrated in Figure 1 for explaining if an individual will prefer to interact with a computer versus a person for an interview task.
