The Chairman of the Committee still acts as Chairman of the Commission on Standardization of Biological Stains. The Committee thus assists in the testing of all stains put on the market in this country. As reported last year, the appropriations from the Chemical Foundation have been decreased. A further cut has been taken this year, and more difficulty has been experienced, therefore, in financing the work. It has been continued without curtailment, however, and requests for financial assistance from individuals or from scientific organizations have not yet been necessary. GENERAL BACTERIOLOGY GI.
