Added to the earlier hazards of living organisms in water, air, and food, Dr. Wolman is professor of sanitary engineering, emeritus, The Johns Hopkins University School of Engineering and School of Hygiene and Public Health, Baltimore, Md. This paper was presented before the Association Symposium of the American Public Health Association at the Eighty-Eighth Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Calif., October 31, 1960. Fred B. Rogers, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.P.H.A. ARLIER this year (1960), when King LBhumibol of Thailand participated in dedication exercises of a new laboratory building at the National Institutes of Health, he unveiled a tablet inscribed with words by Louis Pasteur. These prophetic words were written by Pasteur in the last century: "Science and peace will triumph over ignorance and war.
