Hales Honored As Top Educator
Abstract
Hales Honored As Top EducatorRobert E. Hales, M.D., head of the University of California, Davis, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, has been named Educator of the Year by the Association for Academic Psychiatry. The award acknowledges individuals who have made innovative contributions to medical education and increased public awareness of psychiatric issues. Hales is also editor in chief of American Psychiatric Publishing Inc., APA's publishing division, and co-founder and deputy editor of the Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences. âDr. Hales is a long-time leader in education through academic programs, organizations, and journals,â Don Hilty, M.D., the department's director of faculty development, said in a nominating letter.â He has had significant impact at all levels.â Among other accomplishments, Hales played key roles in launching the university's Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders Institute and its centers for neuroscience and neuroimaging. âThe educator award is more a reflection of the people I've been able to work with,â Hales told Psychiatric News. âIt has been a nice collaboration. I feel very honored.â The Association for Academic Psychiatry presented the award to Hales at its annual meeting last month in San Francisco. ⪠American Psychiatric Association « Previous | Next Article
