Pion pair production from γ γ collisions at the SLAC e + e - storage ring PEP

Pion pair production from γ γ collisions at the SLAC e + e - storage ring PEP We have studied several features of the production of charged-hardon pairs by γ γ collisions. We have measured the f 0 partial width Γ f 0 → γ γ ( Q 2 ) for Q 2 in the range 0 < Q 2 < 1.4 Ge V 2 / c 2 , and obtained Γ f 0 → γ γ = 2.52 ± 0.13 ± 0.38 keV at Q 2 ≈ 0 . The measured Q 2 dependence is in agreement with the generalized vector-dominance model. The cross section for γ γ → ( π + π - + K + K - ) in the mass region 1.6 ≤ M π π ≤ 2.5 GeV/ c 2 has also been measured and the result compared with that expected from the QCD continuum. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Physical Review D American Physical Society (APS)

Abstract

We have studied several features of the production of charged-hardon pairs by γ γ collisions.
