Errata Erratum: Two-photon excitation cross section in light and intermediate atoms in frozen-core LS-coupling approximation [Phys. Rev. A 22, 1576 (1980)] K. Omidvar In this paper the summation, with respect to the final-state magnetic quantum number MJ' of the amplitude for the two- photon absorption phenomena by atoms, has been performed before the amplitude has been squared. Similarly, the averag- ing, with respect to the initial magnetic quantum number MJ, has been performed before the amplitude has been squared. As a result of these errors, the selection rule given by Eq. (10), and the approximate selection rule given by Eq. (12), are invalid. With the correction of these errors, the correct cross sections within the validity of the model of the paper are given in Table I below. This table should replace Tables I, II, and III of the paper. I am indebted to Dr. D. R. Crosley of the SRI International for discovering the errors. TABLE I. Corrected values of the two-photon absorption cross sections for atomic nitrogen, oxygen, and chlorine. J and J' are the angular momentum quantum numbers of the ground and final states. o(2 and a are cross sections in units of cm4 and
