Some Effects of Sulfur Amino Acids upon Tumor-Host Relationship in the Rat Data have been presented to demonstrate that methionine and cystine reduce the growth of Sarcoma R-1, increase the body weight, increase food efficiency, and increase body/tumor ratios. Supplementation with guanidoacetic acid proved to be toxic, this toxicity being overcome when combined with the sulfur amino acids. Guanidoacetic acid or glycine in combination with methionine resulted in increased food efficiency and body/tumor ratios, a response which suggests a specific role for these acids. * Supported by an Institutional Grant from the American Cancer Society. Abstract
