W h e n Reed Exhibitions acquired the LIBF in 1 9 8 5 , Bradford was given the task of developing it into a major international event. O n N o v e m b e i 5, 1971, 200 libiaiians found theii way to the Beineis Hotel, just off Oxfoid Stieet in London, whete twenty-two "Specialist Publisheis" had set up exhibits of theii books.
