Pottier, Introduction a !'etude linguistique de l'espagnol, Paris, Eds Hispanoamericanos, 246 pp., groups his Phonetique et phonologie espagnoles and Morphosyntaxe espagnole under one cover and as such will provide a most useful structuralist sketch of Spanish, comparing to advantage with C. H. Stevenson's The Spanish Language Today (YWML, 33:231), which is rev. in some detail by L. Sacks, L, 48: 954-9. There are three important anthologies of arts, * Homenaje a Antonio Tovar ofrecido por sus disci pulos, colegas y amigos, 470 pp.; D. Alonso, *Obras completas, Tomo I, Estudios lingiiisticos peninsulares, 706 pp.; and J. Corominas, T6pica hesperica: estudios sobre los antiguos dialectos, el substrato y la toponimia romances, M, Credos, 2 vols, 41 I and 428 pp., which is a particularly handy collection and includes one rev. 'Breves notas vascorromanicas a proposito de la fonetica de Michelena', hitherto unpublished; a pleasing feature is a fairly efficient index of the more important lexical items discussed. There is sporadic interest in the history of Spanish linguistics: R. af Geijerstam reviews A. Quilis and J. M.
