ENTWISTLE N the writer's Spanish Language there is a condensed de­ I scription of Basque which leads up to a comparison with Spanish, together with a discussion of the probable nature of 'Iberian' and the extent of its use in pre-Roman Spain. A. Irigaray contributes to RIEV a number of documents which define the Basque frontier in Navarre between r626 and 1778. A map shows how much territory was lost between 1778 and Prince Bonaparte's survey in r863: the greatest breadth is from Tafalla to Pamplona. There has been rather less shrinkage since r863. Another sketch map illustrates the use of Basque in the Valle de Ojacastro in Rioja and Burgos. On north-eastern Souletin Basque we have a work by J. Larrasquet. P. Lhande's dictionary has reached the seventh fascicule, maaga-parte. G. Bahr begins an elaborate study of names for common in­ sects and other animals in Basque, and L. Eleizalde continues 7 8 his list of place-names, paana-pozuzareta. P. Mugica writes on reminiscences of the language in St Ignatius' Diario. In the field of morphology the principal item is a discussion of adiskide and the sociative suffix -ekin, in which R.
