He is the author of Anime’s Media Mix: Franchising Toys and Characters in Japan (2012) and Naze Nihon wa “media mikkusu suru kuni” nano ka (Why Is Japan a “Media-Mixing Nation”?) (2015). He is also the editor of Media Theory in Japan (2017).Dal Yong Jinis an associate professor at the School of Communication at Simon Fraser University. He received his PhD in communication from the Institute of Communications Research at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. His major research and teaching interests are social media and platform technologies, mobile technologies and game studies, media (de-)convergence, globalization and media, transnational cultural studies, and the political economy of media. He is the author of several books, including Smartland Korea: Mobile Communication, Culture and Society (2017), New Korean Wave: Transnational Cultural Power in the Age of Social Media (2016), Digital Platforms, Imperialism and Political Culture (2015), De-convergence of Global Media Industries (2013), and Korea’s Online Gaming Empire (2010).Jinying Liis an assistant professor of Film Studies in the English Department at University of Pittsburgh.
