PREFACE

PREFACE This is the fourteenth volume in the whole BACAP series, but only the second volume which is published by Brill. From a Pythagorean perspective such a predominance of even numbers might appear sinister, but we could counter with the remarkable fact that the number fourteen divided by two yields the magical number seven. Be that as it may, the series continues to thrive with a new publisher and the same editorial team as for volume thirteen. In line with our standard practice, this volume contains (in chronological order) papers and commentaries that were originally given during the 1997-98 academic year to different meetings of the Boston Area Colloquium in Ancient Philosophy. As usual, each colloquium represents the activities of a single meeting at one of the following participating institutions: Boston College, Boston University, Brown University, Clark University, College of the Holy Cross, Harvard University, and Wellesley College. All of the speakers and commentators were subsequently encouraged to revise their contributions for publication in the light of comments and criticisms offered by the audience and by the following panel of readers: Alan Code, David Furley, Stephen Gersh, Gareth Matthews, Mark McPherran, Anthony Price, John Sallis, Dominic Scott, and Nicholas http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Proceedings of the Boston Area Colloquium in Ancient Philosophy Online Brill

Abstract

This is the fourteenth volume in the whole BACAP series, but only the second volume which is published by Brill.
