REVIEW OF BOOKS and This volume is a real treatise of WTO law: it covers all aspects of the trading system from a legal point of view and features both a complete detailed analysis of the various agreements and a critical systematic presentation of the overall features of the system, including its relations with domestic law and the international legal order in general. Paolo Picone of Rome University "La Sapienza" and Aldo Ligustro, of Foggia University (with the participation of a few young assistants) have authored an impressive work. It has no real competitor in the most updated literature in any language, especially if one considers that the treatise approach of Jackson, Dam and McGovern has not been followed in more recent works after the establishment of the WTO and its further developments. The subdivision of the book into parts and chapters highlights the systematic approach of the authors and helps the reader to put any specific subject matter into an appropriate perspective. The authors begin with an examination of the historical developments leading to the Marrakesh Agreements and then go on to cover the structure and functions of the WTO as an international organization.
