Thereforc it shall ensure implementation of full European Union acquis in this field as of the date of accession. However 2003 brought major changes in the content of these obligations, because European Union acquis on telecommunications was entirely transformed by the expiring of the transposition period for legal acts constituting the 'new' European Union telecommunications (electronic communications) regulatory framework. Therefore it is necessary to explore the nature of the above-mentioned transformation and how Lithuania will be able to implement the changes on time. 2. Transformation of EU Acquis The 'new' EU framework for electronic communications (electronic communications) simplifies the complicated system of almost 30 fragmentary legal acts to six main directives and one decision (together with other implementing legal acts) - i.e.: 1.
