Here Sagart presents a 'radicaIly' different OC reconstruction which takes into account morphology and word-families as weIl as more frequently used sources of data (i.e., rhyming and xiesheng series). While others have concentrated on reconstructing OC words, Sagart's 'radical' approach focuses on reconstructing OC roofs and affixes. One may wonder how it is possible to reconstruct OC phonology via oc morphology when morphological reconstruction is dependent upon phonologie al reconstruction. If one does not already know the shape of a word, how can one analyze it into its morphologie al components (i.e., its root and affix(es), if any)?
