LARVAL LOSS AND SPAWNING BEHAVIOR IN THE LAND CRAB GECARCINUS LATERALIS (FREMINVILLE) ANNOUNCEMENT Wilhelm Lilljeborg's "Cladocera Sueciae oder Beitrage zur Kenntnis der in Schweden Lebenden Krebsthiere von der Ordnung der Branchiopoden und der Unterordnung der Cladoceren" I-III, published at Uppsala in 1901, has now been reissued as a facsimile of the original edition with a prologue. The editors are Wilhelm Rodhe, Professor of Limnology, Uppsala University, Sweden, and David G. Frey, Professor of Zoology, Indiana University, U.S.A. This reissue is sponsored by the Royal Society of Sciences of Uppsala and con- sists of three parts. Part I contains prologue (vii-xxi), preface, systematical list, and list of errata (I-VI), and text (1-352). Part II includes text (353-658), literature (659-661), and alphabetical list (662-664). Part III covers explicatio figurarum (665-701) and tabulae (I-LXXXVII). This remains after more than 80 years the single most important book on Cladocera and is generally not available in institutional or individual libraries. Lilljeborg's descriptions of the morphology of the Cladocera and his observa- tions on the habits and habitats of the various species are still the standard for comparison. His illustrations are of such high quality that many persons sub- sequently have copied them rather than attempting their own.
