Der Vf. behandelt aufgrund ausgedehnter Studien in gedruckten und (poln.) ungedruckten Quellen - teilweise in marxistisch-leninistischer Diktion - einen Handelsstreit der Jahre 1778/87, der seitens der Moldau mit humanitären Motiven ('Schutz der Bauern vor Trunksucht'), polnischerseits durch Berufung auf den freien Handelsverkehr begründet wurde, nach R. aber in Wirklichkeit darauf beruhte, dass nach der i. Teilung Polens 1772 das podolisch-wolhynische Getreide keinen Absatz mehr fand und deshalb sowohl in Polen wie in der Moldau (bei ähnl. Ver- hältnissen) Korn in starkem Masse gebrannt wurde. Die moldauischen Grossgrundbesitzer be- riefen sich bei dem Einfuhrverbot aus Polen auf das Koranische Weinverbot. Der Streit kam trotz dipl. Bemühungen in Konstantinopel und franz. Vermittlung bis zum Beginn des 2. russ. türk. Krieges und der anschliessenden 2. Teilung Polens nicht mehr zum Austrag. (S. 229 f. enthält eine frz. Zs.Fassung).
