Money and politics: the fate of British business in the new Turkish Republic <jats:sec><jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>This article examines the relations between the Ankara government and British financial circles in the period between the collapse of the Ottoman empire at the end of the First World War and the establishment of the new Turkish Republic in 1923.
