This article studies the different terms used by Beckett to name his 'Shorter Plays', terms which stray from generic and media conventions. We will assume here that these terms are related to a rhetoric of the 'ill named'. This rhetoric goes together with the works' shortness in order not so much to reduce media to their essential features as to put them to test.
