Book Review BOOK REVIEW M. SHAMIM JAIRAJPURI & WASIM AHMAD: Dorylaimida Free-living, Predaceous and Plant-parasitic Nematodes. Oxford and IBH Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, 1992. Marketed exclusively outside India by E. J. Brill, Leiden. XV + 458 pp. Price outside India 150 Dutch Guilders; 85.75 $ US. ISBN 9004092293 Although Dorylaim nematodes occur in virtually every habitat and predominate in some, their taxonomy, apart from plant parasitic longidorids and trichodorids, is often neglected, little understood and badly in need of review. Hence this long awaited book by two authors much experienced with this group is indeed welcome. In the order Dorylaimida there are some 1,700 species in over 250 genera/subgenera. In this review the order Dorylaimida includes the suborders Dorylaimina, Nygolaimina and Campydorina; it does not include the mononchs, the alaims and diphtherophorids that have been included in earlier classifications. However, the diph- therophorids, including trichodorids, are included in this work but within the separate order Triplonchida. Hence the title of the book is somewhat incomplete in referring to only one of the two orders included. The book is a well bound hard-back with a clear, well set out, text with few typographical errors. It is very well illustrated http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Nematologica Brill
