Van Gansberghelaan 96, B-9820, Merelbeke, Belgium; 2) Instituut voor Planteziektenkundig Onderzoek, Postbus 9060, N-6700 GW Wageningen, The Netherlands Experiences, opinions, and needs concerning extension nematology were obtained by organis- ing an inquiry among members of the ESN working in the EPPO-region and directors of the plant protection services of EPPO-member states. Although the majority of the participants take the view that extension of nematological matters is more difficult than extension of other agronomic technology, the organisation of extension nematology appears to be quite similar to the other disciplines. Plant nematologists participate in various degrees in extension activities. A small percentage of full time extension specialists require extra training, support, and information from the research nematologists. The applicability of the research products furnished by the research units differs with both the financial source of the research and the research subjects.
