Book Reviews BOOK REVIEWS D. L. LEE & H. J. ATKINSON: Physiology of Nematodes, 2nd edition, MacMillan Press, London, 1976, 215 pp. Price: £ 5.95. This is a most welcome revision of Professor Lee's book which was first published in 1965. The rapid expansion of work in this field is clearly reflected in the new edition, and although the text and references have only been increased by 50% some 90% of the references cited are post-1964. The format of the book is similar to that of the first edition, but the number of chapters has been increased from seven to nine and there has been some reorganization of their contents; an author index has also been added. After an introductory section there are chapters on: the cuticle, moulting and growth; feeding and digestive physiology; metabolism; osmotic and ionic regulation and excretion; reproductive physiology and hatching; neuro-muscular physiology; locomotion; and sense organs and behaviour. The authors have given a clear, concise account of these subjects, which makes this a good textbook as well as a very useful reference work.
