Abstract

REVISION OF THE GENUS DISCOLAIMOIDES HEYNS, 1963 WITH DESCRIPTION OF TWO NEW SPECIES REMINISCENT OF THIS GENUS BY V. MANOHAR DAS 1), EKRAMULLAH KHAN 2) and P. A. A. LOOF Landbouwhogeschool, Wageningen, Netherlands The genus Discolaimoides is distinguished from its nearest relative Discolaimium Thorne, 1939 chiefly by the long distance from the oesophageal expansion to the nucleus of the dorsal gland. Two new species are described: D. filiformis n. sp., differing from D. tenuis by the smaller body and longer odontostyle; and D. symmetricus n. sp., characterized by the rather long odontostyle and nearly symmetrical tail. A key to the species is given. Two other new species are described which superficially resemble Discolaimoides: Discolaimium dubium n. sp., which on account of the oesophageal characters probably does not belong here but for the moment cannot be placed elsewhere; and Torumanawa litoralis n. sp., characterized by the peculiar arrangement of the oesophageal gland nuclei, free cardiac glands and short tail with subterminal pores.
