Caribbean Symposium On Nematodes of Tropical Crops ANNOUNCEMENT CARIBBEAN SYMPOSIUM ON NEMATODES OF TROPICAL CROPS An international symposium to study and discuss nematodes attacking tropical crops is to be held at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad, from 31st March to 5th April 1968. Some 15 leading nematologists from America, Australia and Europe are being invited to join plant pathologists and nematologists of the Caribbean area in a review of nematode problems of tropical crops generally, including important local food crops, bananas, sugar cane, citrus, coconuts, tea and coffee. Specialists will speak on the importance of nematodes in tropical crops, the extraction and identification of nematodes, the development and application of nematicides and other methods of control. The conference will also consider the dissemination of information, extension work and the needs for training and research. , A record of the proceedings, is to be edited and published by the Commonwealth Agricultural Bureaux, Farnham Royal, Bucks., England, under the title "Plant Nematology in the Caribbean", Technical Communication No. 40, Commonwealth Bureau of Helminthology. The Symposium is being convened by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) in association with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN and the University of the West Indies.
