BOOK REVIEW F. G. W. JONES & Margaret G. JONES: Pests of Field Crops. London, Arnold Ltd. 1964. 406 pp. This book deals with pests of British agriculture and is addressed mainly to students taking agriculture. It is the first book on so wide a subject for at least 20 years. It covers insects, birds, small mammals and nematodes and shows that nematodes are the second most important group of agricultural pests. Although dealing with pests in Britain, it has wider implications for agricul- ture of other countries. Many useful illustrations are given, some of which appear to be too much reduced and sometimes the reproduction could be better. - P. A.
