SIMILIS BY J. W. SEINHORST Instituut voor Plantenziektenkundig Onderzoek, Wageningen, The Netherlands The male specimen described by Allen (1957) as Trichodorus primitivus (de Man) belongs probably to the species T. similis n. sp. described here. A male specimen labelled by de Man Dorylaimus primitivus and used by him for the description of this species is redescribed. The des cription of the male of T. primitivus is augmented using newly collected specimens. T. primitivus (de Man) and T. obtusus (Cobb) are separate species. In populations of Tf?ichodo?°u??, the females of which closely agree with the des- cription and drawings by de Man (1884) and Allen ( 1957) of T. primitivu.r, the structure of the spicules and of the gubernaculum in the males differs from those in fig. 7d of Allen ( 1957 ) . They are more in agreement with fig. 103f of de Man (1884). The spicules and gubernaculum in fig. 7d of Allen ( 1957 ) resemble those of a species described hereafter under the name Trichodorus .rimili.r n. sp.
