DE MAN (192T) '> described one male specimen as representing a genus of extremely slender, spear-bearing forms with a nondescript esophagus. The male was significantly different from all other nematodes due to its striking caudal alae and needle-like spicules. A sample of roots and soil from an orange grove yielded one male specimen which, even under examination at 75 X with a dissecting microscope, showed a decided similarity to DE MAN'S figures. Gallons of soil obtained at various times from the same location failed to yield another specimen of this genus. Additional specimens, however, were obtained from five other locations as detailed below. Living specimens were killed by gentle heat and fixed for 24 hours in TAF medium (COURTNEY et al., 1955). All fixed nematodes were stained with acid fuchsin in lactophenol, and gradually transferred to glycerin using the technique proposed by BAKER (1953).
