Moffett, in his masterpiece of A History o/Christianity in Asia vol. II: IS oO-I900 begins with the statement that" all the great religions of the world were born in Asia." In the introduction of his first volume, Moffett expresses his hope that his investigation of early Asian Christianity "may serve as a reminder that the church began in Asia" (xiii). Even in the sixteenth- century debate on the christological issue within the Reformation tradition, the Reformed party tends to Nestorian transcendentalism while the Lutheran party to Eutychesianism.
