De moeder overleed te Batavia 6 Jan. 1821"). In Juli van dat jaar begint dan de bezoeksreis en nog in Februari 1823 heeft de weduwnaar eene verschijning zijner over- leden gade, "een engel in menschengedaante"2), 17 Mei 1824 keert hij, zooals wij zagen, naar Batavia terug. Tusschen deze twee laatste data is hij op Ambon of elders in de Molukken ten tweede male getrouwd met G. C. Dibbetz 3), die in 1825 te Batavia van twee zoons beviel en in 1827 van een zoon, 1828 van een dochter 4). Daarna is zij hem vooruit gereisd naar Holland, want in 1829 geeft zij, wonende te Amsterdam, kennis van den dood haars echtgenoots ter reede van St. Helena5).
