Reviews 84 REVIEWS Ezekiel, by Ronald E. Clements. "Westminster Bible Companion." Louis- ville: Westminster John Knox, 1996, pp. 211. $17.00 paperback. Leslie C. Allen Pasadena, California This commentary belongs to a series "written to assist laity in their study of the Bible as a guide to Christian faith and practice." The choice of author was academically fitting, as Clements not only translated one of Walther Zimmerli's Hermeneia volumes but has also published useful work of his own on the book of Ezekiel. The commentary is based on the NRSV, which is printed at the head of each section, sometimes in a shortened form. Occasionally verses featured in the discussion have been annoyingly omitted from the text. The content of the book has been conscientiously covered in the commentary, though one misses a reference to the new deal for resident aliens in 47:21-23. Pre- sumably 11:16-21, including the promise of a new heart, was left out of consideration because it largely anticipates chapter 36; and 39:17-29, in- cluding a redactional synopsis, because it goes over ground covered else- where. Basically the commentary gives a presentation of critical study of the . book. Clements does an admirable job of taking readers http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Horizons in Biblical Theology Brill
