Book Reviews BOOK REVIEWS HOLTER, K 2000. Yahweh in Africa: Essays on Africa and the Old Testament. Bern:Peter Lang. This collection of nine essays by Knut Holter, Old Testament scholar at the School of Mission and Theology in Stavanger, Norway, is the introductory volume to a new series 'Bible and Theology in Africa'. Holter is the series editor and also the driving force behind the 'Bulletin for Old Testament studies in Africa' (BOTSA). Each of these activities forms part of a wide range and deep interest in African Old Testament scholarship. Holter is not only involved in creating a communication network among African Old Testament scholars, he is also a keen student of their writings. He believes that the absence of African scholars from meetings like those of the SBL and IOSOT can be ascribed to economic reasons, definitely not to the fact that they have nothing to offer. On the contrary, Holter states that the social awareness of African scholars can do much to add a new focus to Old Testament scholarship worldwide. The book is divided into two parts. The first part is devoted to the theme 'The Old Testament in Africa' and comprises six articles. The theme http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Religion and Theology Brill
