Pp. xx + 866 pp. It is common knowledge that the religious situation of the world is undergo- ing profound changes with the rise of fundamentalist/conservative types of religiosity in most of the world religions. Th ere has also been discussion on the relationship between globalization and the growth of Pentecostalism and char- ismatic Christianity in several regions. Yet much of the research done is either geographically very limited or even grass-roots studies, on the one hand, or global surveys where the details are diffi cult to verify, on the other. Th ese global surveys are also often biased or even wrong, as Manfred Ernst here points out with regard to the eminent World Christian Encyclopedia ’s data on Fiji (698). Globalization and the Re-Shaping of Christianity in the Pacifi c Islands is an achievement not only because of its monumental size but also because it combines a wide geographical area with detailed information.
