I am thankful to the pre- vious Executive Committee (2000–2004) and the Eleventh Quadrennial Conference of the International Association for Mission Studies (IAMS) for the trust invested in me. I hope to carry out this trust for the sake of the universal mission of the Church. Let me begin by saying that there is no reason for me to hide any aspect of my identity for I believe that it is in my weakness that I fi nd my strength in the Lord. I belong to a small people-group in India called Mizo , o ffi cially categorized by the Government of India as a “tribe.” English (or any of the o ffi cial European IAMS’ languages) is not my fi rst language. It is a language I came to adopt as a student of theology.
