It is well organized, competently executed, and covers so many aspects of statistical methods in their application to legal and administrative problems in so few - relatively speaking-pages, that it might require additional readings in statis- tics to be understood. The language is often technical, and all technicalities are of statistical rather than of legal nature. No English equivalents are given, despite the fact that the science of statistics developed mainly in England and the United States, yet there are numerous references to English texts, although the great majority of texts referred to or cited in the bibliography are Polish or English in Polish translations. There are also appropriate references to Russian, German and French sources. The lack of English equivalents shows the extent to which the Poles have developed their own technical language in statistics.
