Possession or Sale of Counterfeit Goods Constitutes a Crime Notwithstanding the Lack of Mala Fide... <jats:sec><jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>In a judgment delivered by the Sharjah Civil Court and upheld by the UAE Federal Supreme Court, the Court held that offering and storing counterfeit goods in the UAE is a crime under the Law of Fraud in Commercial Transactions (Law No. 4 of 1979) and that intent to commit the crime is not required to be proved. It is sufficient if counterfeit goods are stocked, referred or exhibited for the crime to be complete.
