I would like to pay tribute to the life and work of Dr Ross Langmead, Professor of Missiology at Whitley College, the Baptist College of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. Dr Ross Langmead died on 29 June 2013, surrounded by his family, after a massive heart attack in the previous week. He is survived by his wife Alison, and children Benjamin and Kia. Ross was enormously gifted as a teacher, supervisor and mentor, pastor, singer and song writer. He leaves a legacy not only for the scholarly community in mission studies, but also for the churches in his humble, practical witness in a number of different areas. His keen concern for environmental issues was reflected in his commitment to public transport and cycling, in addition to his publications and teaching on the theme of “faith and the environment.” He developed and taught numerous courses on multicultural and indigenous issues at Whitley College (within the University of Divinity, previously the Melbourne College of Divinity) and in the wider church communities.
