China is treated extensively and we know that discoveries and excavations in China are still continued. I may be allowed to direct the attention of the author to the nine volumes already published in the Sinica Franciscana, a critical edition of the available sources. The author should carefully check names and dates concerning the early Franciscan history in China, during the period beginning in 1294 and ending somewhere about 1360. The same is true for the presence of Franciscans during the Middle Ages in Indonesia. Here the author could profit from Achilles Meersman OFM, The Franciscans in the Indonesian Archipelago 1300-1775, Louvain 1967. Finally, it would be interesting to know how these Franciscans and some Dominicans (in India) related to Nestorian and other Christians. John of Marignolli OFM, who stayed in China, Sri Lanka and India must receive special attention. We must be grateful to John C. England for this publication of the hidden history of Christianity in Asia.
