189 Conference on Trauma's of Children and Youth in Armed Conflict, The Hague, The Netherlands, 20-21 November 1995 SHARON DETRICK The Conference on Trauma's of Children and Youth in Armed Conflict was held on 20-21 November 1995 in The Hague, The Netherlands. The Conference was an initiative of the International Dialogues Foundation; the Netherlands Committee of UNICEF; the Psycho-social Department of the University Clinic for Children and Youth; the Wilhelmina Children's Hos- pital in co-operation with Pharos, Refugee Healthcare Centre; the Institute for Psychotrauma; and Ipser Amsterdam. The aims of the Conference were: - To increase expertise regarding the counselling and rehabilitation of children and youth who have experienced extreme violence as a result of armed conflicts; - To organize forms of co-ordination and projects for the counselling, treatment and rehabilitation of these children and youth; - To define policy recommendations for public and private organisations concerning the relief and rehabilitation of children and youth who have been actively or passively involved in armed conflicts; - To initiate the implementation of policy recommendations for the forma- tion of a task force which will be mobile in crisis situations.
